Padding for first time Skiing and Snowboarding?
Hi All, Its my first time skiing and snowboarding. I am going to camel back mountain in Poconos. I have found a lot of helping information on yahoo answers about apparel in general, but I could not find information on padding... Could you suggest [maybe provide links] on what kind of padding I can buy. I am mainly concerned about my lower back and want to guard it. If you could suggest something I can readily find [beacuse I am at 5 PM EST] it would be great. The only thing I have found is "Under Armour Agile Slider Short Mens" and "Champro Slotted Football Pants" I am unable to find if either of these protect lower back. Also do you think they would hinder my maneuverability. Thanks for the answers. What I failed to mention is that, I have some undiagnosed back problems. Have fallen on ice pretty much every winter for the past 5 years =/ Tough luck, I know. Still no padding then?

- you don't need no stinking padding
- If your snowboarding. Knee pads, also (& this is unusual) some sort of butt pad (you could get your butt cheeks pulled apart if your going fast enough), and a helmet (if you catch the back edge of your board you could smack the back of your head real bad)
- You don't need any more padding than normal. Just don't try to take a double diamond hill on your first go. Take it slow and easy on the small stuff. Once you're comfortable staying upright for the entire small hill like a little bunny run, then move up to the big stuff. Also, don't try any jumps until you're comfortable. You can break stuff doing jumps if you're not ready yet.
- Get padding if you want, it's not going to hurt to buy it just incase. here http://www.sierrasnowboard.com/shop/accessories-protective-gear_0.asp
- you could get a back brace or/and my snowboarding pants have BUTT PADS AND KNEE PADS!!! they are the bomb so you could buy some like them roxy makes them so check out roxy.com
