Ladies Ski Pants

What is enough polyester insulation for a jacket to be worn walking in -10 C?

Assume the jacket is high quality ski-type, waterproof and 'breathing'. It is a ladies Billabong Peace jacket. Would you consider 60g, 80g or 100g to be a minimum? What are the temperature ratings normally? Further details of this jacket: Waterproof 10000 mm Breathable 10000 gr/m2/24h

  1. The jacket should have a temperature rating, but it really depends on you - what you are wearing underneath the jacket and how your body responds to cold weather. If you tend to get cold, go with the 100g version.
  2. -10 C is 14 F which is not really cold. But you don't want to depend on one garment to keep you warm. Put on layers in cold weather, the colder the weather the more layers. Several light layers will keep you warmer than one heavy garment. I would rather have the 60g with a sweater under it than the 100g alone. Either of those mentioned with adequate layers underneath would be o.k. Then if you get too warm just remove a layer.
